The Idukki district administration is ushering in a new era of transparent and efficient public communication with the launch of its groundbreaking ‘Neril Subcollector’ (Face-to-face with the Subcollector) project. This innovative online appointment booking system, championed by Idukki Subcollector Anoop Garg, eliminates the need for citizens to travel to the office or endure long queues to present their issues.
Through this new digital platform, individuals seeking to address concerns, submit petitions, or lodge complaints can now conveniently book an online appointment via a QR code or a dedicated link, and engage directly with the Subcollector through videoconferencing.
Mr. Garg emphasized that this initiative marks a significant leap towards bringing governance closer to the people. Initially, the project offers twelve 15-minute slots per week, with six allocated each on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Plans are already in motion to expand the availability of these virtual meeting slots in the near future.
Simplified Online Booking Process
The booking process is designed for ease and accessibility. Aspirants can scan the provided QR code or follow the booking link to access a simple Google Form. This form, available in both English and Malayalam, requires applicants to provide their name, phone number, email, and preferred meeting time, taking less than a minute to complete. Upon successful submission, applicants receive an instant confirmation via email and WhatsApp, which includes all meeting details and the direct link for their videoconference.
This ‘Neril Subcollector’ project builds upon Mr. Garg’s previous success in March with ‘Janangalodu Oppam’ (With the people), an initiative focused on fostering public interaction and building trust in government institutions. The latest endeavor further solidifies the administration’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centric governance.
