The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) recently took decisive action, successfully removing illegal encroachments from a public utility space in Kondapur.
This particular plot, sprawling across 4,300 square yards, was originally designated for essential community facilities like a school and other public amenities. It was part of the Osmania University Teachers Welfare Society layout in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Kondapur, established back in 1978 with approval from the local village panchayat and comprising 350 plots.
According to HYDRAA, the public land had been unlawfully subdivided into three portions. A person identified as Kolla Madhava Reddy reportedly created fraudulent documents and entered into a development agreement for these plots, allegedly in collusion with the original layout developers. After repeated complaints to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation went unaddressed, frustrated colony representatives sought assistance from HYDRAA via their Prajavani program. Following a thorough investigation that confirmed the illegal encroachment, HYDRAA swiftly intervened, securing the plot with fencing and prominently displaying warning signs. Criminal charges have since been filed against the layout developer Pochaiah, Mr. Madhava Reddy, and his son.
In a separate but equally important operation, HYDRAA also secured a park area in Machabolarum, located in the Alwal mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, on the same day. Residents of Sri Sai Surya Colony had reported attempts by certain individuals to seize control of a 520-square-yard open space originally allocated for a community park, thereby hindering its development. HYDRAA acted decisively, enclosing the land with fencing to protect it for its intended public use.
