On Monday, October 27, the Hyderabad district administration successfully completed a highly transparent lottery process to allocate liquor shop licenses for the upcoming 2025–2027 period. The draw, held at Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan in Jubilee Hills, was meticulously supervised by District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, ensuring every allocation adhered strictly to the new excise policy’s regulations.
In total, 179 liquor shops were distributed across the Hyderabad and Secunderabad regions. Specifically, Hyderabad saw 82 shops allotted from a pool of 3,201 applications, while Secunderabad allocated 97 shops from 3,022 hopefuls. Additional Collector (Revenue) G. Mukunda Reddy also played a key role in overseeing this critical process.
During the event, the Collector emphasized that extensive efforts were made to guarantee complete transparency and prevent any potential irregularities. Every step of the lottery, from displaying tokens to the actual drawing, took place openly before all applicants. Furthermore, the entire proceedings were comprehensively video-recorded, as detailed in an official press release.
With a staggering 6,223 applications vying for the 179 available shops across the district, each individual shop’s allocation was carried out precisely following the new excise policy guidelines.
