Hyderabad’s Commissioner’s Task Force, operating in the South-East Zone, has successfully dismantled a sophisticated network of six property offenders and a juvenile. This group was responsible for a rash of two-wheeler and mobile phone thefts that plagued the city.
Beyond the immediate arrests, the vigilant task force also served a crucial conviction warrant and executed four long-standing non-bailable warrants, underscoring their commitment to justice.
The individuals taken into custody include Mohammed Sajid (35), Shaik Abdul Waseem (28), Aslam Bin Barawas (29), Mohd Shahzad (21), Mohd Muqeed (19), and Sohail Mohiuddin (19), alongside one juvenile involved in the criminal activities.
According to police reports, this syndicate was linked to at least six distinct theft cases, spanning various police station jurisdictions across the city.
In a significant breakthrough, authorities recovered a stolen two-wheeler, ten high-value mobile phones, and a passenger auto that was frequently utilized in committing these offenses. The total worth of the recovered items is estimated to be approximately ₹7 lakh. Investigators noted that a majority of those arrested are seasoned, habitual offenders.
An officer from the Task Force elaborated on their methods: “Mohammed Sajid and three of his accomplices formed a specialized gang dedicated to snatching mobile phones from unsuspecting passengers by distracting them during auto rides. Concurrently, Muqeed, Mohiuddin, and the juvenile were primarily responsible for stealing two-wheelers in areas falling under the Chikkadpally and Saroornagar police stations.”
The officer further highlighted that Muqeed faced a pending conviction warrant for a past robbery. Additionally, four non-bailable warrants were active against other members of the group for various offenses, all registered under the stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Indian Penal Code.
