In a significant crackdown on corruption, a junior lineman working in the Gachibowli division of Hyderabad was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday. The arrest came after he was caught in the act of accepting a bribe of ₹11,000.
The accused, identified as A. Srikanth Goud, had reportedly demanded a total of ₹30,000 from a complainant. His demand was for facilitating the upgrade of electrical wiring at the complainant’s residence from 5 KV to 11 KV, and for manipulating the electricity meter by unsealing and then resealing it.
ACB officials confirmed that the illicit amount was successfully recovered from Goud upon his arrest. Following his apprehension, he has been sent to judicial remand as further investigations into the matter are actively under way.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau also took this opportunity to remind the public about their commitment to fighting corruption. They urged citizens to report any instances of government officials soliciting bribes through their dedicated toll-free number 1064. Additionally, complaints can be discreetly lodged via popular communication platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, or X, with a steadfast assurance that the identity of all complainants will remain strictly confidential.
