Hyderabad residents experienced a delightful return of rainfall on Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2025, following a dry spell of three days. The city skies, which had been overcast, finally opened up, drenching various localities with sharp, refreshing showers.
Initial reports from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) indicated that areas like Ibrahimpatnam, Mallapur, Nacharam, A.S. Rao Nagar, and parts of Secunderabad were among the first to witness the downpour. As of 1 p.m., Saroornagar recorded a significant 6.5 mm of rain, with Santoshnagar, Champapet, and LB Nagar also receiving notable amounts of approximately 3 mm and 2.8 mm respectively.
Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an impact-based forecast predicting generally cloudy conditions for Hyderabad and its surrounding regions. The forecast accurately anticipated light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, to occur across the city, providing a welcome respite from the recent dry weather.
