A deeply disturbing situation has emerged from the Juvenile Welfare and Correctional Centre in Saidabad, where five young boys have bravely stepped forward to report allegations of sexual assault against one of the facility’s supervisors. Police are actively investigating these claims and anticipate that more victims may come forward with similar complaints in the days ahead.
The individual at the center of these accusations is 27-year-old Rahman, who had worked as a supervisor at the juvenile home for six years. He was taken into custody on October 15th, facing charges under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act, as well as other relevant sections of the BNS Act. Rahman stands accused of sexually assaulting the minor children placed in his care within the State-operated institution.
The horrific incidents initially came to light when the mother of a 10-year-old boy filed a formal complaint with the Saidabad police. Her son, who had been home for the Dasara holidays, staunchly refused to return to the center and, in a moment of courage, disclosed the abuse he had suffered to his mother. This initial report spurred a police investigation, which has since encouraged other vulnerable residents to speak out. A Saidabad police official confirmed that five boys have now provided statements, each recounting similar experiences of abuse, and emphasized that authorities are meticulously verifying these accounts, fully expecting further complaints to emerge.
