On Tuesday, citizens from all walks of life, led by Collector Pamela Satpathy, converged at the police parade grounds in Karimnagar to pay solemn homage to the courageous police martyrs. This moving ceremony marked Police Commemoration Day, a poignant annual event dedicated to remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Alongside Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam, Collector Satpathy laid floral tributes and wreaths at the police martyrs’ memorial, a powerful gesture of respect and gratitude.
The commemoration included a dignified ‘Smriti Parade,’ a march of remembrance held at the police parade grounds in honor of the fallen heroes.
During the ceremonies, heartfelt tributes were extended to the 191 police personnel nationwide who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year.
A special mention was made of the supreme sacrifice of 47 police personnel from the erstwhile Karimnagar district, who valiantly laid down their lives fighting left-wing extremism between 1985 and 2003.
The event was well-attended by numerous police officials and, significantly, by the grieving family members of the martyrs, underscoring the collective support and remembrance.
Similar ceremonies unfolded in Khammam, where Collector Anudeep Durishetty and Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt led tributes to police martyrs at the local parade grounds.
Smriti parades were meticulously organized across all district police headquarters and Commissionerates in the erstwhile Karimnagar, Adilabad, Khammam, and other surrounding districts, ensuring that the legacy of these heroes was honored far and wide.
Looking ahead, the Khammam police have planned an extensive Police Commemoration Week from October 24 to 28. This week will feature a series of community-focused programs, including crucial blood donation camps, inspiring cycle rallies, thought-provoking elocution competitions, and interactive online open house sessions, all aimed at further honoring the police and strengthening public trust.
