Dr. Alex James, the distinguished Dean of External Linkages and Projects at Digital University Kerala, has achieved a significant milestone by being elected to the Board of Governors of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS). This appointment is particularly noteworthy as Dr. James is the first scientist from Kerala to ever be elected to this highly prestigious global scientific body.
Professor James is set to serve a three-year term, beginning on January 1, 2026, and concluding on December 31, 2028. The IEEE Circuits and Systems Society recently announced the results of its 2025 Board of Governors elections, which also saw the election of other prominent figures including Jose M. de la Rosa, François Rivet, Ittetsu Taniguchi, and Maurizio Valle.
Founded in 1949, the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society is recognized as one of the oldest and largest technical societies operating under the umbrella of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This society plays a crucial role in advancing the theoretical understanding, analytical methods, design principles, and practical applications of circuits and systems, thereby significantly influencing research and innovation across the fields of electronics and signal processing, as detailed in an official press note.
