In a major breakthrough, security forces in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district successfully neutralized three Maoist insurgents during an intense gunfight that unfolded early Monday morning. The confrontation, which commenced around 6 a.m. in the dense Pantitri forest under the Gorhar police station limits, saw a direct engagement between the forces and a squad led by Sahdev Soren, a prominent figure of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization.
Authorities confirmed that among those killed was Sahdev Soren himself, who carried a substantial bounty of ₹1 crore on his head. The bodies of Soren and two other Maoists were recovered by security personnel during the extensive search operation that followed the encounter. The operation remains active as forces continue to comb the area for any further individuals or remnants of the Maoist group.
