A wave of concern swept across Tamil Nadu after anonymous emails threatened bomb attacks at multiple high-profile locations. These targets included the homes of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Governor R.N. Ravi, and popular actor Trisha. Following rapid responses and exhaustive searches, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) definitively confirmed that these alarming claims were unfounded hoaxes.
According to police intelligence, the first threat email, originating from the ID ‘Sabarisan Vedamurthy’, arrived at the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police’s office at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025. This message specifically alleged that five RDX explosives had been planted at the Chief Minister’s residence on Chittaranjan Road, an area managed by the Teynampet police station. A thorough sweep of the premises by the BDDS, however, yielded no trace of any explosive devices.
Preceding this, on the night of Thursday, October 2, several other threatening emails were delivered to the DGP’s official address. These messages falsely claimed the presence of bombs at various other significant sites: Raj Bhavan in Guindy, the Bharatiya Janata Party office in T. Nagar, and the residences of actors S.Ve. Shekher in Mandaveli and Trisha in Teynampet. Emergency teams from the BDDS were immediately dispatched to all these locations, conducting meticulous checks that ultimately found no suspicious items.
The Greater Chennai City Police have promptly registered a case to investigate these incidents further. Their ongoing efforts are focused on identifying and apprehending the individual responsible for sending these unsettling, false bomb threats.
