A significant case has emerged in Noida, where a Karnataka-cadre IPS officer and six of his family members are facing serious charges including dowry harassment and domestic violence. The formal complaint was lodged by the officer’s wife, a practicing doctor, on October 18, 2025.
Authorities confirm that an FIR has been filed against Shivanshu Rajput, a 2019-batch IPS officer currently based in Bengaluru, along with his father, mother, brother, sister-in-law, and two friends. The complaint, spanning 41 pages and filed on October 16, 2025, details allegations of persistent dowry demands and both physical and mental torment since the couple’s marriage in December 2021.
The wedding, a lavish affair held at a five-star hotel in Agra, reportedly saw the bride’s family incurring expenses exceeding ₹2 crore, which included extensive jewellery. Despite this, the in-laws allegedly continued to demand more dowry. Furthermore, the complainant stated that her husband engaged in multiple extramarital relationships and threatened to abandon her when confronted.
The FIR has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. The police station in-charge of Sector 126 confirmed that an investigation is actively ongoing, and statements from both the complainant and the accused parties will be recorded shortly.
