Karnataka’s Lokayukta police made a significant arrest on Saturday, apprehending Jyothi Prakash, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Energy Minister K. J. George, and her driver, Naveen M. The duo was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹50,000, allegedly for an official favor.
It was revealed that Ms. Prakash also serves as an Executive Engineer for the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL).
Police officials stated that Ms. Prakash had initially demanded a sum of ₹1 lakh from an individual named Ananthraju to issue a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) necessary for sanctioning an electricity supply connection. Unable to meet the demand, Ananthraju courageously approached the Lokayukta police. Acting on his complaint, authorities meticulously planned and executed a sting operation, leading to the arrest of both the OSD and her driver under the stringent Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988.
