In a devastating incident that occurred early Thursday morning in Yadadri-Bhongir district, a dedicated home guard was tragically killed while performing his duties. The victim, 36-year-old Upender Chary, a resident of Siripuram village, was stationed at a checkpoint directly in front of the Ramannapet Police Station when he was struck by a speeding container lorry.
According to details shared by a Ramannapet police official, the fatal accident took place around 4:20 AM on October 9. Chary, alongside ARPC Kumar, was diligently conducting routine vehicle checks on the main road outside the station. During these checks, a container vehicle approached at an excessive speed and collided with Chary, resulting in his immediate death.
Police have promptly registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the driver, who fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. The body of the deceased has been moved for post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.
