Police in Bengaluru’s Chikkajala area have successfully apprehended two women suspected of kidnapping a four-year-old boy from the Hunasemaranahalli locality.
The individuals taken into custody are Hemavathi, 43, a salon employee residing in Yeshwantpur, and 40-year-old Khurshid, also known as Kamala.
The alarm was first raised on October 25 when Amaraiah, an autorickshaw driver, reported his young son missing, prompting immediate police intervention.
Upon learning from his mother that the child was nowhere to be found, Amaraiah quickly filed a complaint. Officers initiated a rapid investigation, reviewing local CCTV footage which clearly showed a woman leading the boy away.
Leveraging both the visual evidence and advanced technical intelligence, law enforcement swiftly tracked down and arrested both suspects. Remarkably, the missing boy was safely rescued and reunited with his overjoyed family just five hours after the abduction was reported.
Initial investigations have shed light on the motive: Hemavathi, living alone after three marriages, reportedly harbored a deep desire for a child. She is said to have discussed this with Khurshid, who then allegedly collaborated with her to abduct the child from their shared neighborhood.
Both women have been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further legal proceedings are underway.
