In an exciting turn of events for aspiring engineers in Karnataka, government engineering colleges are experiencing a remarkable resurgence in admissions! Thanks to a significant 50% fee rebate, traditionally less sought-after core engineering branches, like Civil Engineering, have seen an impressive 18% jump in student enrollment this year. This positive development comes directly from the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
The KEA highlights a dramatic shift: the average admission rate for these particular courses, which stood at a modest 33% over the past three years, has now surged to a vibrant 51%. This clearly demonstrates the powerful impact of the fee incentive.
Breaking down the numbers, Automobile Engineering admissions, which averaged 29% in previous years, have now climbed to 40%. Even more significantly, Civil Engineering has jumped from a 44% average to a strong 52% admission rate.
Other core disciplines are also thriving. Mechanical Engineering admissions have risen sharply from 21% to 35% this year. Niche fields like Silk Technology, which previously had a 43% admission rate, now boasts an impressive 60%. Similarly, Textile Technology engineering has seen its admissions skyrocket from 27% to an outstanding 70%. These figures underscore a successful initiative to revitalize interest in critical engineering fields.
