The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) has officially withdrawn its closure order for the Premier Explosives factory in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. This crucial decision, announced by the company on Tuesday, paves the way for the facility to restart its production operations.
The initial closure order from the pollution control board came in response to a tragic accident on April 29 at the factory, situated in Katepally village, Motakondur Mandal. In a statement to the stock exchanges, Premier Explosives affirmed its commitment to meticulously comply with all conditions stipulated in the TGPCB order, though the specific requirements were not detailed publicly.
The April incident was devastating, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals and injuries to six others due to a fire and explosion. Back in June, the company had previously informed the stock exchange about a TGPCB order, dated June 2, that granted a three-month revocation of the May 7 closure order, contingent on a payment of ₹6,75,000 in environmental compensation. At that time, Premier Explosives had expressed its intention to comply with all directives and swiftly recommence manufacturing. The company specializes in producing industrial explosives and detonators, vital for the mining, infrastructure, defense, and space sectors.
