The revered Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam has officially unveiled its comprehensive calendar for the upcoming Kartika and Margasira months of the Telugu calendar. This translates to a vibrant schedule of temple festivals and profound Vedic programs set to enrich the spiritual lives of devotees from October to December 2025, meticulously planned according to the Vedic Committee’s recommendations.
During a recent press conference, Devasthanam Chairman Borra Radhakrisna and Executive Officer Seena Nayak detailed the exciting events. The Kanaka Durga temple will joyously celebrate Dhantrayodasi and Deepavali. On Sunday, October 19, Dhantrayodasi will commence with a powerful Sri Mahalakshmi Yagam at 8 a.m. in the Yagasala. Following this, Monday, October 20, will mark Deepavali with Sri Dhanalakshmi Puja, exquisite temple illumination, and dazzling fireworks during the evening Pradosha Kalam, culminating in the temple’s closure rituals at 7 p.m.
The sacred Kartika maasam programs are scheduled from October 22 to November 20, promising a month filled with daily devotion at the Sri Malleswara Swamy temple. The auspicious events will begin on October 21 with the traditional lighting of Akasadipa at the main shrines dedicated to Goddess Durga, Lord Malleswara, and Nataraja Swamy. Devotees can participate in Sahasra Lingarchana from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Kathaka Parayanam, Shiva Panchakshari, and Lakshmi Ganapati Japam at 8:00 a.m., followed by the evening Maha Nivedana accompanied by Pancha Haratis and Chaturveda Swasti.
Additional special observances include Gajula Utsavam at the Ammavari temple on October 23 (Yama Dvitiya), where devotees will lovingly adorn the Goddess with bangles. November 5 will witness the grand Koti Deepotsavam and Jwala Toranam on Kartika Purnima. Later, on November 18, Annapabhishekam will be performed with a generous 25 kg of rice for Masa Shivaratri. Throughout this period, special Bilvarchana services and Annadanam will be provided for 2,500 devotees on eight significant days, including Kartika Mondays, Ekadasis, Pournami, and Masa Sivaratri. The Kartika celebrations will beautifully conclude with a Purnahuti ceremony on November 21.
Bhavani Deeksha: A Special Series of Observances
The Chairman also outlined the Bhavani Mandala Deeksha, which will begin on November 1 (Ekadasi) at 8:45 a.m. and conclude on November 5 (Purnima). The Ardha Mandala Deeksha will then follow, starting on November 21 and ending on November 25. A highlight will be the Kalasa Jyoti Utsavam on the night of December 4 (Margasira Purnima), commencing at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram in Satyannarayana Puram and proceeding as a grand city procession to the temple.
From December 11 to 15, the dedicated temple priests will meticulously perform Agni Pratishthapanam, Shata Chandi Yagam, Giri Pradakshinas, and the Bhavani Deeksha Viramana. The culmination of these profound rituals, the final Maha Purnahuti, is scheduled for December 15 at 10 a.m.
The Executive Officer further clarified that during the Bhavani Deeksha culmination period, specifically from December 11 to 15, all arjita sevas (special paid services) will be temporarily suspended for public participation and will instead be performed privately (ekantam) by the temple priests.
