Train services between Agra and Delhi experienced major disruptions on Tuesday evening following the derailment of thirteen wagons of a goods train. The incident occurred between Ajhai and Vrindavan Road stations in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district.
The derailed, coal-laden wagons were scattered across the railway tracks, leading to damage to the infrastructure and halting train movement on the affected lines. Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the derailment.
Circle Officer (Mathura) Sandeep Kumar Singh was present at the scene and confirmed the derailment of thirteen bogies. The derailment impacted both the up and down railway lines, as well as a third track. Train operations on a fourth track were permitted, but with strict caution.
In response to the disruption, helpline numbers have been established for passengers. Many travelers were left stranded at Mathura railway station due to the halted train services.
