In a significant political announcement, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh confirmed on Wednesday that Nitish Kumar will lead the NDA as its Chief Ministerial candidate in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. This declaration comes amidst ongoing political maneuvering ahead of the crucial polls.
Addressing reporters in Patna, Singh firmly dismissed any rumors of internal discord within the National Democratic Alliance regarding seat-sharing arrangements. He assured the public that discussions among the NDA partners are progressing smoothly, and a comprehensive agreement detailing the final seat distribution formula would be announced very soon.
Furthermore, Singh didn’t hold back in criticizing the rival INDIA bloc, particularly the Mahagathbandhan, branding it as a “divided house.” He pointed to recent statements from the Congress party, which indicated that Tejashwi Yadav would be the RJD’s Chief Ministerial face, but not necessarily that of the entire Mahagathbandhan. “RJD supremo Lalu Yadav is now reportedly concerned and uneasy following the Congress leadership’s comments, as the Mahagathbandhan’s collective leadership remains undecided,” Singh stated. He contrasted this with the NDA, asserting, “I must say that NDA’s policy, leadership, and intent are all clear, and there is absolutely no disagreement within our ranks.”
For context, the Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to unfold in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The highly anticipated counting of votes will then take place on November 14.
