A tragic incident occurred on the Kanpur-Varanasi Highway in Prayagraj this Monday (September 22, 2025), claiming the lives of at least four individuals and leaving three others injured. Police reported that an unidentified vehicle collided with a stationary SUV.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganga Nagar), Kuldeep Gunawat, confirmed that the collision happened near Bigahiya village in the Ganga Nagar area. The SUV had reportedly broken down and was parked at the side of the road. At the time of the crash, four occupants were sleeping outside the vehicle, while three women were resting inside.
The deceased have been identified as Suresh Saini, Suresh Bajpai, his wife, and Ramsagar Awasthi, all hailing from Kanpur. The three injured individuals have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
In a fortunate escape, 60-year-old passenger Prem Narayan survived the accident and later assisted in identifying the victims. Authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend the driver of the vehicle responsible for this devastating collision.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He has instructed officials to promptly arrive at the accident site and ensure that relief operations are carried out swiftly and efficiently.
