A disturbing video, widely circulated on social media, reportedly shows the son of former BJP MLA Vijugouda Patil and his associates physically attacking staff at a toll booth in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district. Surprisingly, local police have confirmed that no official complaint has been lodged regarding the incident so far.
The alleged assault occurred on October 30 at the Kannoli toll plaza, located on the Vijayapura-Sindgi highway stretch in Sindgi taluk.
Sources indicate that Samarthgouda Patil, son of the prominent former MLA and BJP leader Vijugouda Patil, was traveling in his car towards Sindgi when he was stopped by toll booth personnel for payment.
Reportedly, Samarthgouda identified himself to the staff, stating he was the son of Vijugouda Patil.
However, the toll attendant reportedly informed him that he did not recognize the name ‘Vijugouda.’
Angered by this response, Samarthgouda and his companions exited their vehicle, allegedly verbally abused the toll staff member, and then physically assaulted him. Other toll employees quickly stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
One of the toll booth workers, identified as Sangappa, reportedly sustained injuries during the altercation and received medical attention at the Sindgi taluk hospital.
Despite the visible injuries and the public nature of the incident, no formal complaint has yet been lodged by the toll staff.
When approached for comment, Vijayapura district Superintendent of Police, Laxman Nimbargi, confirmed that his department has not received any complaints from either the individual staff members or the toll booth management regarding this matter.
