Five individuals, including four transgender persons, have been officially charged by authorities after allegedly causing a major disruption at the Adugodi police station in southeast Bengaluru last week.
The incident began when the suspects, residents of Ambedkar Nagar in Adugodi, reportedly created a public nuisance during a birthday gathering. Their actions escalated to damaging several vehicles, prompting concerned local residents to alert the police.
A police officer on duty recounted the events: “Our Hoysala patrol vehicle responded to the scene and brought them to the station. Upon arrival, they immediately began verbally abusing our officers without any clear reason.” The officer added that the individuals were uncooperative and refused to heed instructions.
Another senior police official confirmed that the suspects appeared intoxicated and were responsible for damaging multiple vehicles parked in the vicinity. “When they were brought to the station, their aggressive behavior continued, as they confronted officers and used offensive language. This prompted us to officially register a case,” the official explained.
The Adugodi Police have pressed charges against the suspects under various provisions relating to creating public nuisance, wrongful restraint, and assaulting or using criminal force to hinder a public servant from performing their duties.
“All individuals involved were issued formal notices and have provided written undertakings, committing to avoid similar incidents in the future,” a police officer informed the press.
