Sameer Wankhede, the former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has stated that his family has been receiving hateful messages from countries including Pakistan, the UAE, and Bangladesh. This situation arises in connection with a defamation case Wankhede filed against Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix concerning the web series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, which he claims unfairly targets him and promotes anti-drug abuse sentiments.
Wankhede expressed his personal belief that the matter is unrelated to his professional duties and is a personal legal action. He indicated that the case is fundamentally about self-respect and dignity, asserting that the series’ satire or parody is insulting not only to him but also to those who work against drug abuse.
He further highlighted the distressing impact on his family members, who have no involvement in his professional life. Wankhede mentioned that authorities have been regularly informed about threats directed at his sister and wife, and he finds it unacceptable that they are bearing the consequences of his personal legal battles.
