Imagine the delight of tourists visiting the grand Mysuru Palace on Sunday when they were greeted with a truly traditional welcome, complete with the iconic Mysuru turban, or ‘Peta’!
This heartwarming initiative by the Janani Seva Trust aimed to make visitors feel completely at home, especially during their memorable trip to Mysuru, particularly enchanting during the Dasara festivities.
Beyond the traditional attire, guests were treated to a delightful introduction to local specialties. Among these was Nanjangud Rasabale, a unique Geographical Indication (GI) product from the region, currently facing the threat of extinction. The sensory journey continued with offerings of aromatic Mysuru beetle leaf, the famous Mysuru Pak sweet, and the enchanting fragrance of Mysuru Mallige (jasmine), each a testament to Mysuru’s distinct cultural treasures.
The initiative was met with enthusiastic praise. One tourist from Bengaluru shared her long-held dream of visiting Mysuru during Dasara, a dream finally realized this year. ‘We’ve witnessed the city’s vibrant illumination, the majestic palace, and the grand elephants,’ she remarked, echoing the sentiments of many others in the group who were clearly savoring every moment of their unforgettable experience.
