The renowned Tyavarekoppa Tiger and Lion Safari, nestled near Shivamogga in Karnataka, is preparing to welcome a host of exciting new residents. This initiative is part of an ongoing animal exchange program with partner zoos in Indore and Aurangabad, promising fresh attractions for visitors and enhanced genetic diversity for the species.
Following a recent visit to the Shivamogga zoo on Saturday, September 20, 2025, officials from both Indore and Aurangabad zoos officially approved the exchange plans, signaling a positive step forward for wildlife conservation efforts.
Among the eagerly anticipated arrivals, the Aurangabad zoo will be sending a magnificent male white tiger and two graceful female Royal Bengal tigers, expected to reach Shivamogga by October 2. Additionally, the Indore zoo will contribute two majestic Asiatic lions—one male and one female—along with a powerful male Royal Bengal tiger, further enriching Shivamogga’s big cat collection.
In a reciprocal gesture, the Shivamogga zoo will be sending two Asiatic lions (one male and one female), two sloth bears (one male and one female), and two golden jackals (one male and one female) to the Aurangabad zoo on Thursday, September 25. On the very same day, the Shivamogga facility will also send two pairs of gaurs and two pairs of ostriches to the Indore zoo, as confirmed in a recent press statement. This thoughtful exchange ensures a healthy, vibrant future for these incredible animals across multiple institutions.
