During a recent statewide roadshow, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, launched a strong critique against the DMK government. He squarely blamed the current administration for the implementation of the E-pass system in the Nilgiris, asserting that these restrictions on vehicle entry were a direct consequence of the DMK government’s inability to present a robust argument in the High Court.
Speaking to a public gathering in the Nilgiris, Palaniswami highlighted the severe impact these limitations have had on the local economy. He emphasized how farmers, traders, and various businesses, particularly those reliant on the bustling tourist season during summer, have seen their livelihoods jeopardized. He confidently promised that if the AIADMK were to return to power, they would actively address these grievances in court and strive to find a lasting solution that benefits the people.
Furthermore, Palaniswami escalated his accusations, alleging the involvement of DMK members in drug trafficking across the state. He also brought attention to the challenges faced by residents in the hilly regions, who are struggling to construct homes due to stalled or denied building permissions.
