Students from numerous colleges gathered at the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) in Nellore to commemorate World Tourism Day 2025. This year’s celebration, centered around ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,’ underscored the critical role of adopting responsible and eco-friendly practices within the tourism industry.
The festivities were inaugurated by District Tourism Officer G. Ushashri, who graced the event as the chief guest. She passionately encouraged students to engage in various competitions and become advocates for positive tourist behavior, emphasizing the significance of spreading awareness on mindful travel.
During the occasion, Sanjeev Reddy C.K., the esteemed Nodal Officer of IITTM Nellore, highlighted the urgent need to develop circular economic models for sustainable growth. These models, he explained, are designed to benefit every individual and entity involved in a tourist destination.
Adding to the encouragement, IITTM faculty member Meera S inspired students to explore and implement groundbreaking ideas for fostering sustainable tourism. She also proudly mentioned that IITTM, an autonomous institution operating under India’s Ministry of Tourism, offers specialized academic programs like BBA and MBA in Tourism, preparing the next generation of industry leaders.
