A dynamic two-day workshop, focused on fostering Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship, recently wrapped up at Vardhaman College of Engineering. This crucial capacity-building program specifically targeted education officers from across Telangana.
The intensive sessions brought together 91 dedicated educators, including District Education Officers (DEOs), District Sports Officers (DSOs), and faculty from DIET colleges. The workshop was a key component of a broader national initiative aimed at embedding a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship directly into the school curriculum.
Dr. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), virtually inaugurated the national bootcamp. He emphasized the pivotal role of these education officers as ‘change agents’ who will spearhead the integration of design and innovation principles into the state’s schools.
This comprehensive training was a collaborative effort, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) alongside AICTE, the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), NCERT, the School Innovation Council, PM SHRI Schools, and the Wadhwani Foundation. It saw the participation of 1,500 education officers nationwide, delivered in three distinct phases.
Vardhaman College proudly served as Telangana’s central hub for the AICTE IDE bootcamp, offering an ideal environment for hands-on learning.
Attendees delved into practical aspects of innovation, problem-solving, and design thinking through engaging live case studies and interactive site visits. A highlight of the workshop was an exploration of the institute’s incubation centre and its research and innovation foundation, where student innovators showcased their impressive prototypes. These included a sensor-based walking stick designed for the visually impaired, an eco-friendly solar-powered RO system, and an intelligent automatic waste segregator, offering a glimpse into the future of student-led innovation.
