Kerala recently hosted a pivotal four-day training program designed to equip its Dairy Development Officers with state-of-the-art extension approaches. Held from September 23 to 26 at the Dairy Training Centre (DTC) in Naduvattom, Beypore, this collaborative effort between the Extension Education Institute (EEI), Hyderabad, and the local Dairy Development Department attracted twenty dedicated officers.
The comprehensive sessions were meticulously structured to empower participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in modern extension methodologies. A significant focus was placed on leveraging digital technologies and their innovative application at the field level, aiming to boost operational efficiency and significantly enhance dairy farm productivity across the region.
Distinguished experts led the technical sessions, including Professors Madhu K. Babu and Sreenivas from EEI Hyderabad. They were joined by Varkey George, the Principal of the Dairy Training Centre; Assistant Professor Subin K. Mohan from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU); Sreeram Vishnu, an Assistant Professor at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ambalavayal; and digital marketing specialist Shareek P.
A key highlight of the program was the series of interactive discussions. Here, participants actively exchanged their field experiences and collaboratively strategized on the most effective ways to integrate advanced digital tools into their daily extension activities, ensuring a progressive future for Kerala’s dairy sector.
