Renowned scholar of Pali and Sanskrit, Professor Mahesh Deokar, passionately articulated that Buddhism transcends being merely a religion; it is a profound way of life guiding individuals toward equality, compassion, and righteousness.
Speaking at the vibrant Dhamma Vijaya celebrations held at Buddhavanam in Nagarjunasagar, Professor Deokar underscored the deep historical roots of this auspicious day. He reminded attendees that Dhamma Vijaya commemorates Emperor Ashoka’s pivotal embrace of Buddhism, an event that later profoundly inspired Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to adopt and propagate its tenets.
During the enlightening gathering, Professor Deokar strongly advocated for the establishment of a dedicated educational center at Buddhavanam, envisioning it as a vibrant hub for disseminating the Buddha’s teachings. Echoing this sentiment, Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor, Altaf Hussain, lauded Buddhavanam as a future beacon for Telangana and a forthcoming global center for peace and Dhamma studies. He pledged the university’s commitment to exploring and launching certification programs focused on Buddhist education.
