Spanning an impressive 68 kilometers, this event proudly stands as Asia’s second-longest kayaking tour, promising thrills and scenic beauty.
The grand inauguration ceremony will take place on the afternoon of October 3rd near Government Manavedan Higher Secondary School, Nilambur, with Member of Parliament Aryadan Shoukath officially commencing the expedition. Adding to the prestige, MP P.V. Abdul Wahab will ceremonially flag off the tour. The paddling adventure will culminate on the evening of October 5th in Cheruvannur, located in the picturesque Kozhikode district.
Participants will navigate the river using a variety of watercraft, including nimble kayaks, versatile stand-up paddles, elegant sailboats, and traditional canoes, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for all. This remarkable event is skillfully organized by the Jellyfish Water Sports Club, Kozhikode, in close collaboration with the State Tourism Department and the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society, highlighting a strong partnership between local enthusiasts and government bodies.
This year’s paddle is expected to attract 75 enthusiastic paddlers from all corners of India, showcasing a diverse age range from energetic 10-year-olds to seasoned 70-year-olds. Over three days, these dedicated participants will traverse the 68-kilometer stretch of the Chaliyar River, paddling daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., immersing themselves in nature’s splendor.
Beyond the excitement of the paddle, a crucial environmental goal has been set: organizers anticipate collecting approximately 2,000 kg of floating waste from the river during the three-day event. This initiative underscores the paddle’s commitment to ecological responsibility. Aspiring participants are encouraged to register their interest by October 1st.
