The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) administration has confirmed that no official permission was granted for a Palestine solidarity march that took place on its campus last Tuesday, October 7th.
In a formal statement released on Wednesday, the university highlighted that it had previously warned students that such demonstrations were considered ‘against national interest.’ The administration also voiced objections to the display of banners proclaiming ‘EFLU is with Palestine’ and the hoisting of Palestinian flags within the university premises.
Reports indicate that the campus environment grew increasingly tense around 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A confrontation erupted between two large student groups, escalating into a physical scuffle involving students and police personnel who were called to the scene for reinforcement.
According to the university’s account, officials initially attempted to de-escalate the situation through peaceful dialogue. However, students remained defiant, insisting on their right to proceed with the rally without requiring formal permission. Faced with this unyielding stance, the administration requested police intervention.
The EFLU administration has strongly condemned the incident and announced that a thorough inquiry will be conducted. Appropriate actions will be taken against those involved, in strict adherence to the university’s established ordinances and regulations.
