In a dramatic turn of events, Nellore police have successfully apprehended a driver and his network of accomplices in connection with the audacious theft of ₹2.10 crore from a local businessman.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Nellore Town DSP Sindhu Priya revealed details of the case. The primary suspect, Mahesh Naik, had been employed as a driver by K. Kondanda Rami Reddy in the Balaji Nagar area for four years. On September 18, Naik allegedly absconded with the substantial sum of cash, fleeing to his hometown of Hallare in Nanjangud taluka, Mysore district, Karnataka.
Under the shrewd supervision of Nellore Town DSP Sindhu Priya and Rural DSP G. Srinivasa Rao, two specialized police teams were immediately dispatched. Balaji Nagar police station Circle Inspector (CI) K. Samba Siva Rao and Central Crime Station (CCS) CI Ashok Kumar led the relentless pursuit. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, the dedicated teams managed to track down and arrest Mahesh Naik, his father Somu Naik, and his friends Sanna Naik Ramesh and Basavaraj Bharath.
The swift operation resulted in a remarkable recovery: police teams successfully retrieved ₹2.06 crore of the stolen money and confiscated two cars belonging to the accused.
Nellore SP Ajitha Vejendla commended the special teams for their exemplary work, stating, “Police identified the accused by using the latest technology. No criminal can escape in the present day of advanced technology. Everyone should stay away from criminal tendencies.” Her words underscored the importance of modern investigative tools in ensuring justice.
