A terrifying ordeal unfolded in Mumbai’s Powai area today, where over 20 children, reportedly held captive by a man inside a studio, were successfully rescued. Police and fire brigade teams worked together to ensure their safe liberation.
Confirming the good news, Mumbai Police stated that all the children are now safe and have been reunited with their relieved guardians.
The suspect, who identified himself as Rohit Arya and is believed to be mentally unstable, has been taken into police custody.
The tense incident unfolded over an hour on Thursday afternoon at R.A. Studio, located near the L&T building.
Prior to the rescue, Mr. Arya reportedly shared a video on social media, stating his desire to speak with certain individuals and ask them questions, explicitly denying any demand for money. He had threatened to ignite the studio if his demands were not met.
Preliminary reports indicate that the children, boys and girls approximately 15 years old, had been lured to the studio under the guise of an ‘audition.’
Further details regarding this incident are anticipated as the investigation continues.
