The Channapatna Rural police have made significant arrests, taking into custody a gang of three men accused of a shocking robbery. Their alleged target was a police sub-inspector from Tamil Nadu, who, along with his family, was reportedly robbed at knifepoint on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway.
The victim, identified as P.J. Shaji, a special sub-inspector with the Cherambadi police station in Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, was en route to Bengaluru with his wife to pick up their elder son. The unfortunate incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. when Shaji pulled over near Channapatna to rest and take a short nap.
It was then that the three perpetrators, arriving on a two-wheeler, allegedly confronted Shaji and his family, brandishing knives and issuing threats. They proceeded to rob the officer of two mobile phones, ₹10,000 in cash, and a 16-gram gold chain before swiftly fleeing the scene.
Following Shaji’s complaint, the Channapatna Rural police launched an investigation. Through diligent work, they successfully tracked down and arrested the three accused. They have been identified as Syed Tanveer, 30, from Channapatna; Fairoz Pasha, 28, from Bengaluru South District; and Tanveer Pasha, 32, from Gejjalagudde.
