On Sunday, September 28, 2025, K.R.N. Rajeshkumar, a Member of Parliament representing the DMK in the Rajya Sabha, formally presented a petition to the Namakkal District Collector. The petition sought compensation for four members of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) who are currently hospitalized. These individuals reportedly fainted during a TVK rally held in Karur the previous day, Saturday, September 27.
The rally, featuring TVK President and actor Vijay, was initially slated for 8:45 AM on Saturday, September 27, near K.S. Theatre on Salem Road. Thousands of party members, including many women, had begun assembling as early as 5:00 AM. However, the actor did not arrive until 2:30 PM, causing a prolonged wait for attendees.
This extensive eight-hour wait led to approximately 15 cadres, including women, collapsing from exhaustion. Fellow party members quickly transported them to nearby medical facilities for urgent care. Sources confirm that four of these cadres – M. Manoj Kumar (24) from Govindapalayam, Namakkal; R. Ezhilarasi (24) from Kathiranallur; A. Santhosh (24) from Komarapalayam; and V. Arumugam from Anbu Nagar, Namakkal – are still undergoing treatment but are reported to be out of danger. The remaining individuals were discharged after receiving necessary medical attention.
On Sunday, September 28, DMK MP Rajeshkumar’s petition specifically requested government compensation for these four hospitalized individuals, drawing a parallel to the aid previously announced for victims of the Karur rally stampede.
Addressing reporters, Mr. Rajeshkumar reiterated that, just like the incident in Karur, four individuals in Namakkal are currently receiving medical care across various private hospitals in Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, and the Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital. He further informed the press that the Collector had promised to ensure compensation for these four individuals. Additionally, the DMK has already provided ₹50,000 to Ms. Ezhilarasi, who is admitted to a private hospital in Salem. Mr. Rajeshkumar also stated that efforts are underway to reach out to the families of the other two individuals receiving treatment in private hospitals, assuring them of the DMK’s assistance with their medical expenses.
Separately, on Sunday, September 28, the Namakkal police filed a case under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act. The case was registered against Sathish, the TVK Namakkal district in-charge, and other individuals for erecting banners and flex boards without obtaining the necessary permits. An investigation into this matter is currently ongoing.
