In a significant demonstration of their commitment to social ideals, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently presented a cheque worth ₹1,70,20,000 to Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani. This substantial sum represents one month’s salary generously contributed by all DMK Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs).
The collective donation is specifically allocated for the ambitious development of Periyar Ulagam, a visionary theme park planned for Siruganur, located near Tiruchi. This innovative park is conceived as a dynamic hub designed to propagate the profound and transformative ideas of Periyar, the revered social reformer who tirelessly championed rationalism and self-respect within Tamil society.
Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the project’s critical importance, stating that Periyar Ulagam is an earnest effort to ensure the enduring legacy and philosophical teachings of Periyar continue to reach and inspire future generations. He passionately declared his belief that, “In the radiant light of Periyar, the great flame, the Tamil race will walk with their heads held high!” This initiative underscores a deep-rooted dedication to upholding and widely disseminating the core principles of Periyar’s influential movement throughout the state.
