Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda recently confirmed that the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) will remain robust and extend to all future elections, including local body and Assembly polls. This declaration aims to put an end to any speculation regarding the partnership’s stability.
Speaking to the press, Gowda emphasized, “Our collaboration with the BJP is completely secure. There should be no room for doubt; it will certainly continue in all upcoming electoral contests. My personal relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been consistent and will not waver. I have maintained a respectful stance towards him over the past decade.”
Prioritizing Party Organization
Shifting focus to the JD(S)’s internal strategy, the veteran leader underscored the critical importance of strengthening the party structure from the ground up.
“I am personally dedicating my efforts to party-building initiatives. While former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy faced some health challenges, he has now made a full recovery and is eager to resume active work for the party. His son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, has been tirelessly leading an energetic membership drive throughout the State. Despite experiencing three electoral defeats, he has remained actively involved, demonstrating valuable lessons learned and now operates with the wisdom of a seasoned politician,” Gowda stated.
Upcoming Bengaluru Convention
Highlighting the party’s intensified efforts in Bengaluru, Gowda announced that the JD(S) plans to host a significant women’s convention in the city on October 12. This event is expected to draw an impressive attendance of 60,000 party workers.
“Our goal is to build our organization from the very foundations. When elections arrive, our true strength will be unmistakably clear,” Gowda asserted, revealing the party’s target of securing at least 50 to 60 seats in the forthcoming Bengaluru civic body elections.
Response to Bidadi Township Debate
Addressing inquiries about the controversial Bidadi Township project, Gowda indicated his comprehensive understanding of the project’s details and the widespread opposition from farmers concerning land acquisition.
“This project falls under the purview of the Congress government, and farmers are actively resisting land acquisition. Ultimately, the public will cast their judgment during the elections. Until then, patience is key. There’s no need to needlessly involve specific names or individuals. Time will ultimately reveal all outcomes,” he concluded.
