A specialized aircraft has departed from Kanpur, bound for Delhi, to undertake the capital’s groundbreaking cloud-seeding trial. This ambitious operation is scheduled to take place over Burari in northwest Delhi, as confirmed by an official on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The success of this trial hinges on favorable atmospheric conditions, specifically adequate moisture levels and the presence of suitable clouds. Should these elements align, the artificial rain-making exercise is poised to proceed as planned today.
Upon completing its mission in the northwest Delhi region, the aircraft will then be stationed at Meerut airport. This strategic positioning allows for continued operations or readiness for future attempts.
However, if the meteorological conditions prove unsuitable for cloud seeding today, the aircraft will bypass the trial area and proceed directly to Meerut. There, it will remain on standby until the weather permits the crucial environmental intervention.
This innovative trial, designed to generate artificial precipitation, forms a critical component of the Delhi government’s comprehensive strategy. The goal is to effectively combat and mitigate the alarming decline in air quality that typically plagues the city during the winter months.
