Delhi woke up to a blanket of shallow haze on Wednesday, as the city’s air quality was reported in the ‘poor’ category. The temperature also saw a noticeable drop, settling at 18.2°C, a decrease from the previous day’s 20°C.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 272 (poor) by 10 am. This follows a 24-hour average AQI of 292 recorded at 4 pm on Tuesday. The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) for Delhi has indicated that the air quality is likely to remain in the ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ zone for the remainder of the week.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies for the entire day. An IMD official mentioned the possibility of mist forming in the late afternoon or evening hours on Wednesday.
Looking ahead, the mercury is expected to rise slightly, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 29°C, while minimum temperatures are predicted to fall further in the coming days.
