In a significant legal development, Delhi Police have officially submitted an extensive 400-page charge sheet to a magisterial court. This detailed document targets the man accused of assaulting Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ (public hearing) program held at her camp office in Civil Lines.
Sources indicate that the accused, identified as Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai (41), along with his accomplice Syed Tahsin Raza, has been charged with multiple serious offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These charges notably include attempt to murder, assaulting and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their duty, and criminal conspiracy.
Following the submission, court officials confirmed that the Magistrate has taken cognizance of the final report. The case has now been scheduled for further proceedings, set to take place on October 30, 2025.
According to information obtained from court sources and detailed in the final report, Khimjibhai’s anger was the catalyst for the attack. His discontent stemmed from the Delhi Chief Minister’s vocal support for a Supreme Court directive issued on August 11, 2025, which mandated that authorities relocate stray dogs.
The incident unfolded during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ event at Chief Minister Gupta’s camp office, occurring on the morning of August 20, 2025, around 8:15 a.m. Her office quickly condemned the assault, characterizing it as a deliberate and “well-planned conspiracy to kill her.”
Immediately after the attack, Chief Minister Gupta received medical attention from doctors and underwent a medico-legal case (MLC) examination, as confirmed by officials from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
