The Delhi High Court is set to issue an interim order concerning Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna’s petition to safeguard his fundamental personality and publicity rights. During proceedings on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Justice Tejas Karia verbally confirmed the court’s intention to pass a directive. “When specific URLs can be identified, the most effective course of action is to mandate their removal. Orders will be passed,” Justice Karia stated.
This legal move by Nagarjuna echoes recent actions by Bollywood celebrities Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and filmmaker Karan Johar, all of whom sought similar protections. In those instances, the court had already issued separate interim orders, affirming their personality and publicity rights.
Nagarjuna’s legal team informed the court that the actor is facing three primary types of infringements: the unauthorized use of his image and likeness on pornographic websites, the illicit sale of merchandise capitalizing on his personality traits, and numerous YouTube videos exploiting his identity without consent. The upcoming interim order from the Delhi High Court is expected to address these grievances directly.
