The much-anticipated refurbishment of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) Terminal 2 is complete, with Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu inaugurating the upgraded facility. This comprehensive renovation aims to significantly enhance passenger comfort and efficiency.
Having been closed since April for its makeover, Terminal 2 is now ready to accommodate the growing passenger traffic. Travelers can look forward to a host of new technologies, including a streamlined self-baggage drop system, state-of-the-art passenger boarding bridges, and visually appealing modern skylight designs.
This upgrade will facilitate the operations of approximately 120 daily domestic flights from Air India and IndiGo, helping to alleviate congestion, especially during peak travel periods, and ensuring a smoother journey for everyone.
Key Features of the Refurbished Terminal 2:

- Six New Passenger Boarding Bridges: Equipped with autonomous docking technology, these advanced bridges utilize sensors and laser guidance for precise alignment with aircraft doors, making boarding effortless.
- DigiYatra Integration: The DigiYatra facial recognition system will be operational at all entry and security checkpoints, allowing for quick and seamless passage by simply scanning your face.
- Modern Skylight Designs: The terminal boasts updated ceilings and skylights, creating a brighter, more spacious, and pleasant ambiance for passengers.
- Wait Time Tracker: Real-time updates on wait times at various checkpoints will help passengers plan their journey more effectively and avoid delays.
- High-Resolution Display System: An upgraded flight information display system (FIDS) will provide clear and easily accessible information.
- Enhanced Safety and Accessibility: The terminal incorporates advanced fire safety measures and improved signage for better accessibility, including specialized facilities for passengers with reduced mobility.
