Ahead of the much-anticipated Deepavali celebrations, law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut Range has launched a comprehensive and assertive campaign to curb the illicit storage and sale of firecrackers. This significant operation has led to the arrest of 53 individuals and the registration of 37 cases, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to public safety.
The crackdown extended across several key districts within the Meerut Range, including Meerut, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, and Hapur.
During these meticulous operations, police successfully confiscated illegal firecrackers and a range of explosive materials valued at several crores of rupees. This substantial seizure highlights the scale of the unlawful activity and the potential danger it posed to communities.

“We urge all citizens to promptly report any emergencies or suspicious illegal activities by contacting our dedicated helpline numbers, 112 or 101,” stated DIG Naithani. “Our fire services are on high alert and fully equipped, and all necessary arrangements, including robust medical facilities, have been meticulously put in place at hospitals.”
He further clarified that the retail sale of firecrackers will not be permitted in densely populated areas, issuing a stern warning of severe penalties for any violations.
