Tragedy struck on Friday, September 19, 2025, when a vehicle carrying Assam Rifles personnel was ambushed by armed militants on the fringes of Imphal, Manipur. The brutal attack resulted in the loss of life for two brave jawans, while four others sustained injuries.
The ambush occurred around 6 p.m. in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area of Bishnupur district, on a road connecting to Churachandpur. Sources indicate that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), a banned insurgent group active in the region’s valley areas, is strongly suspected of carrying out this heinous act.
Following the assault, local police and residents swiftly responded, rushing the injured personnel to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
