Davangere’s Deputy Commissioner, G.M. Gangadhar Swami, has taken strong action, suspending two teachers and a Social Welfare Department officer. This decision comes after their unexplained absence from a vital ongoing social and educational survey.
The suspended individuals are Manjunath D.K., an assistant teacher from Government Junior Primary School, Jamapur; Basavarajappa H., a physical education teacher at Government High School, Naganuru; and Durganna K.R., the hostel supervisor for the Post-Matric Boys Hostel for Backward Classes in Mayakonda. They face charges of negligence and severe dereliction of duty.
All personnel, including these three, were clearly instructed to perform survey duties between September 22 and October 7. Despite these explicit orders, the aforementioned staff members failed to report for their assigned responsibilities.
Their absence was not only without any valid justification but they also failed to offer a credible explanation when questioned. This lack of accountability prompted the swift disciplinary action.
As a result, pending a full departmental inquiry into their conduct, the Deputy Commissioner has ordered their immediate suspension from service. This action was taken in accordance with Rule 10(1)(d) of the Karnataka Government Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules 1957, as confirmed in an official release.
