The sacred Indrakeeladri hillock buzzed with increased devotion on the third day of Dasara festivities, as approximately 58,000 worshippers converged at the revered Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam. The Kanaka Durga temple opened its doors for darshan in the early hours, attracting a large congregation. Due to an anticipated visit by Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan in the afternoon, temple authorities temporarily suspended ₹500 tickets and VIP darshan slots to manage the crowds effectively.
In a gesture of reverence, MLA Bojjala Sudheer Kumar Reddy and T. Bapireddy, the Executive Officer of the Srikalahasti temple, offered exquisite silk garments and saris to Goddess Annapurna Devi. They extended prayers for Andhra Pradesh’s enduring prosperity and progress. During their visit, they also highlighted the importance of VIPs adhering to scheduled visit times to prevent any disruption for general devotees.
The priests at the Kanaka Durga temple reverently adorned the presiding deity as Goddess Annapurna Devi. They elaborated on this divine manifestation, explaining that Annapurna Devi is portrayed offering alms to her consort, Lord Shiva, cradling a golden vessel filled with sacred food. Worshippers believe that meditating upon the Goddess in this form can alleviate hunger and bestow boundless wealth, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment. Her ‘Akshaya Patra,’ a magical vessel, is said to grant all auspicious blessings to her devoted followers.
This unique representation of Annapurna Devi, personally bestowing food upon her devotees, underscores the profound link between physical sustenance, divine benevolence, and earthly well-being. The ongoing Sharannavaratri festival consistently fosters deep devotion, acts of generosity, and a profound reverence for the goddess, who eternally ensures that no soul goes without nourishment.
