In a deeply distressing event, a 25-year-old man from the Dalit community in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district has been subjected to severe abuse, including being allegedly forced to drink urine on two separate occasions. Authorities have apprehended three suspects in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the perpetrators targeted the victim after he resigned from his position as a driver for one of the accused.
The victim recounted that he was abducted from his in-laws’ residence in Gwalior and taken to Bhind, where he endured beatings and was forced to consume urine. The assault continued even after being taken to another village, where he was reportedly tied up and made to drink urine again. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act, for kidnapping, assault, and inhumane treatment.
This incident follows closely on the heels of other disturbing reports of violence against Dalit individuals in the state, highlighting a concerning pattern of caste-based atrocities.
