In a gripping Pro Kabaddi League encounter held in Jaipur on Monday, September 15, 2025, skipper Jaideep Dahiya emerged as the star performer, orchestrating a hard-fought 40-37 win for the Haryana Steelers against the tenacious Gujarat Giants.
Dahiya’s exceptional leadership was highlighted by his impressive ‘High Five’ performance. Complementing his efforts, Shivam Patare contributed significantly with nine raid points and three crucial tackle points, while Vinay added eight raid points, showcasing a remarkable collective effort from the Haryana Steelers squad.
A pivotal factor in their triumph was the Steelers’ defensive prowess, as they executed five ‘Super Tackles’ throughout the game, which ultimately proved to be the decisive difference between the two sides.
Despite a valiant individual effort from Rakesh Sungroya, who notched up a ‘Super 10’ with 14 points for the Gujarat Giants, their efforts were not enough to secure a victory.
The match kicked off with intense exchanges between Vinay and Rakesh. The Giants initially seized a two-point lead after Shubham Kumar successfully tackled Shivam in a ‘Do-or-Die’ raid. Rakesh then quickly extended Gujarat’s advantage by scoring five points within six minutes, while Vinay single-handedly kept the Steelers in contention with their first four points.
The defending champions displayed immense resilience, with Sahil Narwal executing a ‘Super Tackle’ to narrow the gap to 7-6. Jaideep Dahiya and Shivam followed suit with ‘Super Tackles’ of their own, pushing the Steelers into the lead. However, Lucky Sharma responded immediately with a tackle for Gujarat, concluding an action-packed first quarter with the score at 11-8.
Lucky Sharma then inflicted an ‘ALL OUT’ on the Steelers, but Haryana demonstrated quick recovery, finishing the first half strongly at 25-20.
Rakesh continued his impressive form by completing his ‘Super 10’ in just twelve raid attempts, and Nitin Panwar tackled Vinay, giving Gujarat an ideal start to the second half. Nevertheless, whenever the Giants threatened a comeback, the Steelers swiftly shut down their momentum. Rahul Ahri delivered a ‘Super Tackle’, and Dahiya completed his ‘High Five’, maintaining Haryana Steelers’ lead at 32-27.
Mohammadreza Shadloui then scored his first points with a tackle on Shivam during a ‘Do-or-Die’ raid, keeping the Giants’ hopes alive with eight minutes remaining. Himanshu Singh’s subsequent tackle brought the scores level at 33-33, setting up a tense finish.
However, the Steelers held their nerve in the crucial final moments, preventing any further surge from the Giants. Vinay ultimately sealed the victory with the finishing touches, cementing a memorable win for Haryana.
